XX Holding Group evolved from Guangzhou XX Industrial Development Co., Ltd., established in 2013. With fifteen subsidiaries under its umbrella, the group integrates diverse sectors including energy and minerals, petrochemicals and coal chemical industries, gas and water resources, commercial real estate development, interior decoration, electromechanical products, installation engineering, security and safety systems, power technology and information technology, building materials, energy conservation and environmental protection, aerospace, and energy performance contracting.

An enterprise group is a limited liability company with independent legal personality. The Company Law does not recognize the term “group.” Only terms like “limited liability company” and “joint-stock limited company” exist. Some companies pursue diversified business strategies, establishing subsidiaries across multiple sectors. Thus, parent-subsidiary relationships form an enterprise group akin to an army corps in the military. This is the origin of what we commonly call a “group company.”

“Group” is the colloquial term for “group company.” For instance, “XX Group” would formally be “XX Group Co., Ltd.” or “XX Group Joint-Stock Co., Ltd.” In China, a “group company” refers to an enterprise that invests in multiple subsidiaries. Naturally, people also commonly refer to a holding company and its subsidiaries collectively as an “XX Group” enterprise. A group is not necessarily a business entity; it can also be a public institution. For example, some provincial or municipal broadcasting and television groups use only ‘GROUP’ in their English names without “CO.” If it is strictly a company, the Company Law mandates that the word “company” must be included in the name. Example: Fujian Broadcasting and Television Group. Naturally, there are also broadcasting groups structured as companies, such as Shanghai Media Group. These are just a few examples that come to mind; other counterexamples may exist.
